Impacted Canines

The canine teeth play an important role in guiding the bite and creating a balanced smile. After wisdom teeth, the upper canines are among the teeth most likely to become impacted. An impacted canine remains trapped beneath the gums or bone instead of erupting into its correct position.

Impacted canines may develop because of dental crowding, limited space, unusual tooth positioning, retained baby teeth, or growths that obstruct the normal eruption path. Without treatment, an impacted tooth may damage nearby roots, contribute to cyst formation, affect alignment, or remain permanently trapped.
